Solar System Price in Nigeria: What Packages Cost by Size

Solar system price in Nigeria is not one number. It depends on the inverter size, the battery type and size, how many panels come with it, and whether installation is in the price. Published October 2026 package prices from Lagos sellers put a 3.5 kVA lithium system with panels at roughly N3.1 to N3.4 million, and a 5 kVA-class system with 10 kWh of lithium and panels at about N5 to N5.5 million.

Every figure on this page is named to the seller or publisher and dated, because a shop price is what one seller lists, not the price in Nigeria. Prices move with the naira, so use these to check a quote, never as a quote. This site is advertising for independent Nigerian solar installers and sells nothing itself, so call now on +234 809 000 0000 and ask for written quotes from independent installers for a home solar installation.

Compare by size, never by one average

Start with the size you need, then compare like with like. A 3.5 kVA package with 5 kWh of lithium and six to eight 450 W panels sits around N3.1 to N3.4 million in the October 2026 listings of SMK Solar and Mercury Direct. Step up to 10 kWh of lithium with 10 to 16 panels and the listings are at about N5 to N5.5 million.

Do not blend these into one average. Sizes differ (3.5 kVA, 5.5 kVA, 8.5 kVA), batteries differ (5 kWh against 10 kWh), panel counts differ, and some prices include installation while others do not. Sun King's PowerHub Pro, for example, is a 5 kVA unit with 5 to 10 kWh of lithium and 6 to 12 panels at N3,799,500 installed, which is a different package from a 10 kWh system listed at N5 million or more.

Published ranges give a wider picture, and they are not quotes either:

  • BusinessDay, 17 Feb 2026: 3-4 kVA N2 million to N3 million; 5-8 kVA N3.5 million to N5.5 million; commercial 10 kW and above N10 million to N50 million or more.
  • SustifyHomes, a quote marketplace (prices updated August 2026): 3.5 kVA hybrid N2 million to N3.5 million; 5 kVA hybrid with 10 kWh lithium N3.5 million to N6 million; 10 kVA N7 million to N12 million.

Where the money goes: battery, panels and inverter

BusinessDay (February 2026) puts the battery at 35-45% of system cost, panels at 25-30% and the inverter at 20-25%. That is why a bigger battery moves the total more than anything else. These are single-seller shop prices as listed in October 2026:

  • Lithium (LiFePO4) 5 kWh: Mercury Direct N1,150,000; SMK Solar N1,200,000. Lithium 10 kWh: Mercury Direct N2,350,000; SMK Solar N1,950,000.
  • Tall tubular 220Ah: N260,000 each for Mercury Elite and for Green Brilliance at SMK Solar.
  • One 450 W panel: SMK Solar N85,000 (full-cell) or N98,000 (half-cut); Nature Solar in Alaba International Market N95,000 (Longi).
  • Hybrid inverter, 3.5 kVA: Mercury Direct N380,000; SMK Solar 3.5 kW N345,000 to N385,000.

On batteries, lithium costs more upfront, and the makers' own claims differ a lot. The Felicity LPBF48100-A manual states 6000 cycles at 80% depth of discharge, and a Luminous LPT 1240H tubular page states up to 1500 cycles at the same depth, which is 4 times as many (6000 / 1500) on each maker's own test conditions. These are manufacturer-stated figures, not tested ones, and BusinessDay says lead-acid batteries last only three to five years.

On the inverter, read the kW figure and not just kVA. A 5 kVA inverter at a 0.8 power factor carries 4 kW of real load, so the datasheet matters. BusinessDay also reports N-type TOPCon panels at "about 20 percent" more than older mono panels. If you are replacing weak tubular batteries, see inverter and battery installation.

Instalments, the naira and your gen bill

Mobility.com.ng (June 2026) warned that a panel priced at N120,000 can be N140,000 a month later because of currency movement. The shop pages used here are undated, so read this page as a snapshot of mid-October 2026. A current written quote is the real number.

Sun King's EasyBuy terms show what spreading payment does. For PowerHub Core, N121,000 down plus N49,000 a week for 80 weeks is N121,000 + (80 x N49,000) = N4,041,000, about 1.7 times the N2,411,000 upfront price. That is an illustration of Sun King's published terms, not advice, and your own instalment terms will differ.

Sterling Bank and Sun King announced loans for Sun King systems over 48 months in February 2025, and no rate was published. Ask any installer who mentions finance to put the terms, total repayment and rate in writing.

For comparison with what you spend now, take a 3.0 kVA Sumec Firman ECO4990ES, which Nigerian retailer Jamara Home says runs up to 12 hours at 50% load on a 15 L tank (about 1.25 litres an hour, 15 / 12), running 5 hours with petrol at N1,400 a litre (a Lagos pump price reported by Vanguard on 10-11 October 2026). That is 1.25 x 5 x 1,400 = N8,750 a day, and N8,750 x 30 = N262,500 over 30 days. It is an illustration at mid-October 2026 Lagos pump prices for one generator, not a prediction for your house and not a payback promise.

What a written quote should show before you compare

Ask every installer for the same things on paper, so two or three quotes line up. A quote that only says "5 kVA solar system" cannot be compared with anything.

  • Exact models and sizes: inverter (kVA and kW), battery (kWh and chemistry) and panels (wattage and count).
  • What the price includes: installation, delivery, mounting, cables, breakers and surge protection.
  • Warranty terms per item, in writing. SMK Solar states 18 months on the hybrid inverter, 5 years on lithium and 10 years on panels for its 3.5 kVA panel package, while Mercury Direct product pages say 12 months. Terms differ by seller and distributor.
  • The VAT treatment shown on the quote. Solar equipment is reported to be VAT-exempt or zero-rated under the Nigeria Tax Act 2025, but sources disagree on the label, so ask the installer to show it.
  • The installer's NEMSA competency certificate. NEMSA guidelines as reported in April 2026 say rooftop solar must be installed only by NEMSA-certified electrical contractors, and NEMSA's site has a directory at nemsa.gov.ng/directory/.

Industry experts quoted by NAN (via Peoples Gazette, 8 July 2026) say batteries, inverters, panels and charge controllers are the most counterfeited items, so check serial numbers, QR codes and warranty papers, and buy from authorised dealers. Keep every receipt. For a shop, school or clinic, the same checklist applies to commercial solar, and for a system that keeps tripping, start with solar and inverter repair.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a 3.5 kVA solar system cost in Nigeria?

In October 2026 SMK Solar listed a 3.5 kVA system with 5 kWh of lithium and 6 x 450 W panels at N3,121,000, and Mercury Direct listed 3.5 kVA with 5 kWh of lithium and 8 x 450 W panels, installation included, at N3,400,000. Published ranges are wider: BusinessDay (17 Feb 2026) gave N2 million to N3 million for 3-4 kVA, and SustifyHomes (August 2026) gave N2 million to N3.5 million for a 3.5 kVA hybrid. Contents differ, so compare the battery, panels and installation line by line and get a current written quote.

How much does a 5 kVA solar system with lithium cost?

It depends on the battery and the panel count. In October 2026 Mercury Direct listed a 5.5 kVA system with 10 kWh of lithium and 16 x 450 W panels at N5,538,000, SMK Solar listed 8.5 kVA with 10 kWh and 10 x 590 W panels at N5,059,000 with installation and Lagos delivery, and Sun King listed its 5 kVA PowerHub Pro at N3,799,500. SustifyHomes (August 2026) gave N3.5 million to N6 million for a 5 kVA hybrid with 10 kWh of lithium. These are different packages, so do not treat any one as the going rate.

Is installation included in the price?

Sometimes. Mercury Direct states installation is included on its lithium packages, and Sun King lists installation and after-sales support with PowerHub. SMK Solar's 3.5 kVA package page lists installation accessories, which does not confirm labour. BusinessDay (17 Feb 2026) put professional installation alone at N150,000 to N800,000, so ask each installer what the quote covers.

Is lithium worth the extra cost over tubular batteries?

Lithium costs more upfront: in October 2026 a 5 kWh lithium battery was N1,150,000 at Mercury Direct and N1,200,000 at SMK Solar, against N260,000 for a 220Ah tall tubular (Mercury Elite at Mercury Direct, or Green Brilliance at SMK Solar). Maker claims differ too: Felicity states 6000 cycles at 80% depth of discharge for one lithium model, and Luminous states up to 1500 for one tubular model. Ask the installer for usable capacity, cycle claims and warranty on the exact models quoted, then decide against your budget and what you need to run.

Can I pay for solar in instalments?

Some sellers offer it. Sun King's EasyBuy terms for PowerHub Core are N121,000 down plus N49,000 a week for 80 weeks, which totals N4,041,000 against N2,411,000 upfront. Sterling Bank and Sun King announced loans over 48 months in February 2025 with no published rate. Get the total repayment in writing before you sign.
